Canada is preparing to receive an unlimited number of Ukrainians.
More than 2.6 million people have fled Ukraine following Russia's attacks. According to the United Nations, this is the fastest refugee exodus this century. As Russian forces continue to push for control of key cities, numbers are expected to rise dramatically. First and foremost, these people needs jobs to support themselves.
Canada creates a new visa that will allow Ukrainians to live and work in the country
Minister of Immigration, Sean Fraser, said his department has created a new visa category that will allow Ukrainians to come to Canada to live, work, or study for up to two years.
People accepted under the Canada Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel Program will have an open work permit, and employers will be able to hire as many Ukrainians as they need.
Ukrainians can come to work anywhere in Canada for any employer they choose.
For Canadian employers, this means they will be able to hire Ukrainians without having to go through a lengthy and costly application process.
